NAD⁺ Stability During Shipping and Storage: Verified by Vanguard Laboratory
At Modern Aminos, transparency and reliability are at the core of our research-only mission. One of the most common questions researchers ask us is whether NAD⁺ remains stable during shipping and storage. To answer this directly, we partnered with Vanguard Laboratory, testing facility, to conduct an exclusive stability study on our NAD⁺ solution.
Why This Test Matters
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD⁺) is a critical coenzyme in cellular redox reactions and energy metabolism research. However, because it’s sensitive to heat, many researchers wonder whether it breaks down during shipment or short-term storage. This study puts those concerns to rest with controlled, quantitative data.
Vanguard Laboratory NAD⁺ Stability Study Overview
Three vials of Modern Aminos NAD⁺ solution (200 mg/mL nominal concentration) were shipped and analyzed under different real-world conditions:
- Short transit (12–15 hours): Next Day Air shipping
- Long transit (~3 days): Standard USPS shipping
- Post-arrival storage:
- One vial refrigerated (2–8 °C)
- One vial kept at room temperature (20–25 °C)
- One vial tested immediately on arrival
Testing was performed by HPLC-UV/Vis (high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection), a gold-standard analytical technique used to quantify purity and degradation.
Results
- Short Transit: Arrived at 214.77 mg/mL concentration and 99.6 % purity — no measurable degradation.
- Long Transit (~3 days): Only 2.22 % loss, with 99.56 % purity.
- Refrigerated Storage (7 days): Absolutely no change in concentration or purity.
- Room Temperature Storage (7 days): Slight 2.67 % degradation, consistent with mild hydrolysis expected over time.
Predicted Stability Over Time
Vanguard Laboratory modeled the degradation rate at room temperature, showing:
- ~11.4 % loss at 30 days
- ~22.8 % loss at 60 days
Under refrigeration, however, stability was maintained throughout testing — consistent with published literature confirming NAD⁺ remains stable for months at 5 °C or below.
What This Means for Researchers
- Shipping: NAD⁺ retains its integrity during standard shipping conditions, even with multi-day transit times.
- Storage: For optimal preservation after arrival, refrigerate upon receipt.
- Confidence: This independently verified study confirms that the NAD⁺ you receive maintains high purity and concentration through the entire shipping process.
Conclusion
This study, conducted exclusively with Vanguard Laboratory, provides clear, validated evidence that NAD⁺ from Modern Aminos is stable under normal shipping and short-term storage conditions. While minor degradation can occur at room temperature over extended periods, refrigerated storage maintains near-perfect stability.
